| Palette knife strokes loaded with thick acrylic color create the surfaces of Subodh Kumar Apot's paintings. The aritist hailing from Orissa paints human being caught in certian existentials situations. Both the male and females images are in their stark nudity and they look comfortable in primal existence with in the pictorial world that the artist create for them. The dominant male figure showing his back to the viewer is emblematic and is surrogate representation of the artist himself. He appears in most of the paintings, gesturing in different ways. |
